The East Cork Athletics Division Awards Night was held in the Midleton Park Hotel on March 8th 2024. The awards night celebrated all athletes within the division who won All-Ireland medals during the 2023 season. There were 75 All-Ireland medal winners, which is a phenomenal achievement.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Cllr. Ann Marie Ahern (Cork County Council) and Enda Kiernan (Cork Athletics PRO & Vice Chairperson) for being our guests of honour and presenting the awards. Both Ann Marie and Enda congratulated the athletes and acknowledged the hard work and dedication put in by all Club Athletes, Parents, Club Officials & Coaches.
We would also like to thank John Cashman for being our compere on the night. As usual John did a fantastic job making it a very entertaining and enjoyable night for all.
This year the event was hosted by Midleton AC and we would like to thank them for organising a superb event.

The Memorial Trophies for 2023 were awarded as follows:
Maureen O’Connell Trophy – Best Girls Juvenile Cross-Country Club: Midleton AC
Gerry Russell Trophy – Best Boys Juvenile Cross-Country Club: Carraig na bhFear AC & St. Catherines AC (Tie)
Willy Harte Trophy – Best Club at T&F Championships: Midleton AC
Kathleen McCarthy Trophy – Junior Athlete of the Year: David Ebo Midleton AC
David Ebo had a fantastic year winning Gold in the 100m in a time of 11.27 at the National Championships. In June, at the Tailtean Games, he finished a very close 3rd with a pb of 11.13s. and got selected for the 4X100m Irish School’s relay team. David was a vital cog when the Irish team claimed Silver. Congratulations David and best of luck in 2024.
A presentation was made to Tommy Houlihan (Midleton AC) by the East Cork Division to acknowledge all the hard work and service given to Athletics over the years. Tommy, a founding member of Midleton AC turned 80 last October and continues to be heavily involved in Athletics from administration to coaching and stewarding . The decibel levels generated when the award was made shows how popular Tommy is and how much everyone appreciates his passion for and commitment to Athletics.
